It was the fall of 2018 and I was in my last semester of college. I was trying to figure who I wanted to be as a photographer and this was one of my first paying gigs. You wanna talk about scared? I was terrified!
I can remember getting ready that day. I was talking myself up and going through all my camera settings in my head. This was my first shoot with small kids and I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. What did I get you ask? I got beautiful innocence that absolutely shined for the camera! Taking pictures of kids is challenging, trust me. But earning that smile is the absolute greatest feeling.
I was still developing my style and I learned very quickly that I'm not the biggest fan of poses. There's something about them that just feels forced. The real magic lives in those candid moments. That's when the person's personality really shines through, and if I'm doing my job right then the photo can really tell a story.
I'm still proud of myself and the work I did that day. I want to say thank you to the family for the hundredth time for taking a chance on me way back then.
